The Engineer

Image
This post is about the last book I just finished reading. "A book about an Engineer, written by an Engineer and being read by an Engineer", is the first phrase that came to my mind the first time I saw this book. It's actually a biography of Elon Musk, I'd describe him as a Billionaire, an Entrepreneur, Innovator and as the author of the book calls him "The Engineer". The book authored by Erik Nordeus and titled "The Engineer: Follow Elon Musk on a journey from South Africa to Mars" was worth my time spending reading when not staring on my computer. Being a person that has had strong drive to get into entrepreneurship, innovation, sometimes happening to be inspired by some startup businesses and having a background in studying science and engineering it was not easy not to be attracted to read about Elon Musk. I have heard Elon Musk before (it's hard not to hear about him, especially in these Internet ages) and have been following news on

"We are anonymous" by Parmy Olson

If I could peak one thing that made the month june of the year 2017 funny and less boring that would be reading this one non-fiction book. Throughout the month I've been reading a book "We are anonymous" by Parmy Olson. The book covers a lot if not everything on the online collective known as "Anonymous". From the activism side of it and to the Lulz side, the author's work has given broad coverage of the collective for anyone who has only been following anonymous on the media. Having been a bit familiar with the story form media too and watching few documentaries on Anon, it was not that hard to quickly understand and enjoying it. Funny part is, I read most part of the book, probably 98% of it  when on a public transport going to and from work, thanks to the traffic congestion in Dar es Salaam city for making me enjoy this reading every morning and evening when heading to work and back home.

Blue Eyed Salaryman by Niall Murtagh

It's a book by Niall Murtagh. Born in Ireland, after graduating his university studies in 1979, he spent time traveling around the world. Until when he ended living in Japan first as a student and later an employee in one of the largest conglomerates in Asia, Mitsubishi. In this book Murtagh tells a story of his life as an ordinary employee, how he made it up to the top management level and challenges he faced as a foreign employee from Dublin working in a deeply rooted Japanese culture company. It was an interesting read, considering the fact that I started reading it few months after I graduated university where I had yet to live "Salary man's life" as Murtagh refers himself for being an employee. The cultural challenges the writer encountered as an employee is what I needed to learn from at the time when reading the book. At was the moment I was working with a team/teams from diverse culture. So the book was absolutely relevant. I purchased this book in Stonetown

Trying to talk about this blog!

Image
The second thing I want to talk about on this blog is this website. It was supposed to have been clearly stated on the about page , but as simple as I wanted the page to be, it couldn't cover this specific information. Today I want to talk about this website which has just got launched about a month a go. I made this website behind an amazing web software for creating websites and blogs called wordpress . You can learn more about using wordpress, or ask for help at this technology forum on shuletime in case you encounter any difficulties. I went for WordPress despite the existence of a number of other blog platforms for one or two reasons. The first reason is I wanted to self host WordPress software, play with it and learn form it's open source code. This will give me a chance to practice and learn more php language. Also working with WordPress themes will help me improve my front end programming skills. WordPress as an open source software has a very large community b

The First Post

I just set up this blog and before I even draft what will become the about page, I want to write down this first post with random thoughts on what, when and how I will be posting here. I have been thinking for a while now about starting to write down my views on various issues. It's more like talking to myself but in the hope that one day someone will end up here and learn a thing or two from what's been written. I have had several attempts to set a personal blog, I remember to have used a sub-domain of my first project at http://musa.shuletime.com. Before that I had tried to register blogs on Blogger and WordPress but none them seemed to work due to various reasons including lack of motives to keep posting and not having specific topics like I do now. So talking about what has changed now that can guarantee I will be serious this time? I can only say there's quite a few strong reasons now. One of many reasons is that I have strong motivations to start/keep writing
